How To Get More Views On Etsy, The ONE Thing That Helped Me A TON!

May 25, 20248 min read

Let’s face it: we all want to learn how to get more views on Etsy. Etsy traffic is essential to get more sales. And if you’re selling digital downloads, like I am, I believe it’s easier.

First, I want to share my personal journey of increasing traffic to my Etsy page for my other blog (Designing Life). It’s a story of discovery and learning that I believe will resonate with you.

I created a few downloadable digital travel guides and sold them through Etsy. However, my main issue is that Etsy is not really the right platform to sell my digital product.

It’s not a popular niche. That’s what I’m trying to say. And while other people are busy chasing popular templates that are selling quickly, I opted for a harder challenge. Such is life, I suppose.

So, I did my research, optimized my listings, and did everything influencers on YouTube said I needed to do. But it only slightly worked.

I knew I had an uphill battle with getting Etsy traffic from the start. The nature of my guides is very niche and for a specific audience.

Luckily, I learned how to get more views on Etsy pretty quickly. And that was with help from my blog. No, not this one, my travel blog.

My travel blog’s traffic was growing more and more each month. So I began linking all my popular posts to my Etsy listings. Lo and behold, I started making more sales.

So, if you’re wondering how to get more views on Etsy, start a blog. I highly recommend it.

Use a call to action to tell your readers to click on your listing. After all, more views on Etsy eventually lead to more sales.

How to get more views on Etsy? Start a blog. This is a screenshot of my traffic for Feb 2024. I was getting many views and making about $600 per month. Not too bad

I should mention that my blog doesn’t get nearly as much traffic as some of the influencers I see. But It gets about 15k per month. And that amount of traffic brought enough views to my Etsy store to eventually make around $600 monthly.

That may not seem like a lot, but who doesn’t need an extra $600 monthly? I was ecstatic.

The next month, I made almost $700, but then I decided to take my traffic to Gumroad instead of Etsy. So, my next few months are pretty low on Etsy since I’m no longer directing traffic there.

Getting Traffic to Etsy With A Blog Takes Time

But what if you don’t want to start a blog? What can you do? Luckily, these days, there are many options you can try.

YouTube is a great way to make video blogs or (vlogs), and it’s a great way to start gaining traction and get more views on Etsy through your videos.

Just like a blog, you want to make sure you’re providing value to your viewers. In other words, take your niche and talk about how that niche can help them. Essentially, you’re giving your audience free valuable information they can apply now. This will show them you know what you’re talking about.

Next, don’t be afraid to tell them to purchase your digital product. Let them know that if they liked what they read or heard on your YouTube Channel, they can get more if they download your digital download on Etsy.

Let’s Recap How to Get More Views on Etsy

  1. Start a blog and add links to your Etsy store
  2. Start a video blog or YouTube channel and make vlogs you can link to your Etsy store

It’s not as hard as you think, but it takes time and effort, and you must set time aside for this every week.

How to Get More Views on Etsy With a Blog

Starting a blog is fantastic, but it requires a few things. The first is passion. This is probably the most important thing for a blog.

If you don’t have passion for the niche you are making digital downloads for, chances are you won’t enjoy making vlogs or writing posts.

Things will go downhill fast, and you won’t care about your projects. You want to be able to invest in your “baby.”

If you are chasing any template that makes money, you’ll be too scattered with what’s new and what’s trending that particular week to have a focused blog. Readers might view you as scatterbrained. You want to be known for something.

For example, I love to travel, so I started a travel blog.

For Artsy Boss, I write this because I enjoy it. And I’ve learned a lot about digital downloads and how to sell them in the process. I’m passionate about writing these articles for my readers. I’m passionate about selling digital downloads, making money online, and how to get more views on Etsy (and digital art in general, but that’s for another post).

You have to be passionate about your blog because writing just to write doesn’t cut it these days.

These days, you have to learn how to write SEO blog posts, learn the questions people are asking, understand the Google Helpful Content update, learn how Google uses their AI Overviews to give researchers information from your blog, and so much more.

It requires a passion for you to continue when things get rough. And passion for your niche will help you learn more about it.

If you write about how grass grows, you’d treat it like a boring school assignment and eventually give up.

So, What Now?

Make a list of the things you are passionate about. Or make a list of things you are good at and enjoy. Make a list of things that are unique to you. After writing these, does anything stand out as something you can make multiple videos or posts about? Can you eventually turn that information into a downloadable product? If you do, it’s time to start your journey into the world of digital downloads.
