Spark Digital Product Ideas Fast and Start Selling Like a Pro!

How do you stand out and get digital product ideas that get noticed and sell on the incredibly busy and over-saturated internet?

In this article, we are going to talk go over a few ways to get digital product ideas so you can start making that extra dollar in your pocket.

Here are 5 Digital Product Ideas, or Rather, How to Get These Ideas Quickly

1. Think of Yourself as a Business

Every business owner, regardless of how tiny or gigantic it is, is here to solve a specific problem for its consumer. And that’s your mission.

Think about which specific problem you are trying to solve for your customer. The more you hone into this “problem” you are solving, the easier it will be to sell your product.

If I’m being honest, it’s easier to figure out the problem once you have a product in mind. Nevertheless, you can start here to gain ideas for future products.

So, how do you identify a “problem” you are trying to solve for your customer?

To find recurring questions, identify the pain points or frustrations individuals experience in a specific niche by exploring forums, Facebook groups, or Reddit communities.

That’s where creating a digital product comes in handy. Let’s think about that small business owner who either doesn’t have time for social media or has no creative talent. If you were to create a series of digital templates for Instagram (or your social media of choice), you could market them and sell them online for the struggling business owner.

Now that I’ve given you an example, have you considered any pain points (or frustrations) your customer has? What are they?

2. Repurpose Your Expertise

I love this one because this is exactly what I did.

Transform your knowledge, skills, or hobbies into digital products. Consider what you excel at or what people frequently seek your advice about.

If your friends always ask you about budgeting advice, maybe you can create a downloadable, pre-made spreadsheet that helps them with their budgeting, project management, or even business tracking.

Once you’ve done this, you can upload and sell it online. That’s one digital product idea that can easily be downloaded.

We’ll dive deeper into this in a later blog post because there is a cool exercise you can do to gather way more ideas.

3. Browse Digital Platforms for Inspiration

A lot of people do this, and although I’m not a fan of doing this, this is a way many go about getting digital download ideas and inspiration.

One thing to remember is that you should not copy their product 100%. What you want to do is gather inspiration for your specific digital product idea, not rip off their idea.

For example, let’s head to Etsy, Gumroad, or other markets that are used for digital downloads to see what others are doing.

Let’s say you stumble upon sticker templates or designs but notice a lack of Halloween sticker downloads. This is your chance to start making Halloween-inspired sticker templates and designs.

In other words, you checked out the market and saw that people love stickers, but you did not copy the products you saw. You used this as inspiration, and now, you will start creating what’s missing. In our example, what is missing is Halloween sticker downloadables.

4. Follow Trends

Following trends is a good way to spark digital product ideas when you first start. That’s because it’s easy. All you need is YouTube, Etsy, and perhaps other social media to see what people are gravitating towards.

Once you see that everyone is talking about the latest digital download trend, see what you can do to jump on board.

For instance, right now, as I write this in early 2025, AI is trending. So why not create a guide on “How to Use ChatGPT” guide? Or something to that effect.

5. Ask Your Audience About Digital Product Ideas

This is a good one if you’ve started your journey and are struggling to find new digital product ideas.

For example, I have another blog called Designing Life, which is a gay travel blog where I sell a couple of downloadable digital travel guides.

I used this to ask my audience what type of guides they wanted to see in the future, and several people gave me feedback.

Now, I know what to create for the future regarding gay travel. But this is also specific to my audience. So, if I make what they recommended, I know it will sell because several people suggested it.

You can also use Instagram polls, YouTube, and other means to get feedback from your audience.

There’s More Where That Came From

There are a lot of ways you can come up with digital product ideas. This list is endless, but we are going to stop here for now and pick this up in a later post.

Have you used any of these ideas? Or is there something you’ve used that I did not include here? Let’s learn from each other. Write them in the comments.
